Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

By downloading any image you are agreeing to the following terms & conditions:

So, in the interest of keeping things very simple here is what you can and cannot do with photographs shown on this website.

If you purchase a Personal Use photograph, that means that I give you permission to use that photograph for personal use in perpetuity (forever). You can have it printed by selecting one of the options on the website, you can put it on your Instagram/Facebook page, you can share it with your friends. I’d really appreciate a tag at @photosbyalex.co.uk if you do, but it isn’t required by these terms of use.

You can’t use it for promoting a business, brand or product.

If you purchase a Social Use photograph, that means I give you permission to use the photograph on social media to promote a brand, business or product in perpetuity (forever). You are required to tag @photosbyalex.co.uk as the photographer, you aren’t given the right to edit the photograph (please no filters or cropping!) and you may use it in paid ads on social media.

Neither of these usages cover editorial, advertorial or commercial use.

If you would like to purchase an image with Editorial Use or Commercial Use, then please just drop me an email and we’ll work out a rate that will be based on a number of factors.

For confirmation, Editorial Use is required to use a photograph on this website for newspapers, magazines, print publications (both digital and physical) or any other educational resources. This does not cover “advertorial use” (an article that promotes a specific brand or product).

Commercial Use covers using a photograph to promote a business, brand or product away from social media. This includes in magazines, print publications, other educational resources, marketing material both physical and digital, packaging and reproduction in revenue generating activities (calendars, postcards etc). Commercial Use factors include exclusivity, time scale, domain use, sublicensing, modification of original works and sensitive use. All of these factors are negotiable.

Usage of images/photographs that doesn’t stick to these terms and conditions will be reported to the relevant authorities under a breach of copyright.  If steps are not taken to rectify the misuse, legal action will be taken.

Sounds a bit heavy handed, I know. But it has taken a great deal of time, patience and money to get to the stage where I can sell photographs for a living. I love it and want to keep doing it for a long time to come. Stealing them isn’t cool.
